Founded in 1993, Electronic Engineering & Product World (EEPW) is jointly published by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), a division of the Ministry of Science & Technology, and IDG, the leading technology publisher in China.

The bimonthly magazine later formed an alliance with Reed Business Information, licensing editorial for use in translation from ECN magazine (formerly Electronic Components News) and Electronic News Online. The editorial agreement enhances EEPW's ability to deliver strategic information in a timely manner about electronic technology, products and markets to engineering managers, executive managers and senior design engineers.

In 2009, with the audit of BPA International, its circulation reached 42,582 copies.
